Defence Food Production and Processing Factory (DFPPF)

DFPPF was commissioned on 14th October 2018 as a constituent factory of KOFC. It was planned to be in 3 Phases; Phase 1 actualized, Future plans include Phase 2 and Phase 3. It is an MoD Vision 2030 Flagship Project located in Gilgil that produces and processes dehydrated vegetables. It is part of the Gov’t Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) on Food Security, Manufacturing and Health while contributing to the National Security Industrialization Policy and Strategy. The Factory is located in Gilgil within an important catchment area for raw materials.

Defence Food Production and Processing Factory was established through an Executive order dated 6th May 2022.

To carry out crop as well as animal production and processing of high quality and nutritious dehydrated vegetables for the KDF and other Security Agencies.

To be a premier producer of high quality nutritious fresh and processed food products through continuous innovation and adoption of industrial best practices.

To enhance KDF, other security organs and Agencies’ food security and health through value addition in the production and processing of agricultural products.
