The development of the bottled water project began in 2010, following a concept initiated by the Engineers Brigade (WDS). By 2013, the project was transitioned to the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation to better manage its commercial requirements.

This move led to the official commissioning of the plant in 2015, marking the start of full-scale production for the brand now known as ‘KDF Water.’ As of 2023, the facility remains a key priority, with active plans underway for its modernization and expansion to meet growing demand.

To carry out production of enough drinking water for use by service personnel and their families on a commercial scale, mainly through DEFWES.
