KOFC was established under the State Corporations Act (Cap. 446, Laws of Kenya) through Legal Notice No. 125 of 1997 as a State Corporation under the Ministry of Defence. The Corporation’s original mandate was to manufacture hardware, machinery and equipment. Through Legal Notice No 2 of 2020, the Corporation’s responsibilities now encompass production of defense artillery and related military hardware, manufacture of apparels, assembly and manufacture of motor vehicles, construction of roads, water pans, buildings, and other infrastructure and food processing and other incidental activities approved by the Board with Presidential consent. KOFC contributes to national security and industrial growth, aligning operations with Vision 2030 aspirations.
Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC) is a state Corporation under the Ministry of Defence located along Eldoret-Kitale road 20 km from Eldoret Town.
